...and he's off!

Well, Jeff flew off to Costa Rica. Dropping him off at the airport tuesday night was a strange feeling; I'm starting to realise how understanding he is about all the time I spend taking off for the field.

La Ruta starts tomorrow at ~5 am, so right now Jeff is getting shuttled from the main hotel in San Jose out to the coast. Looking out my office window onto the grey and brown view of Calgary, I can't even imagine the greens he must be seeing. Apparently this has been one of the wettest seasons in Costa Rica ever, what with all the hurricanes and such, and so the jungle must just be busting out! I have a feeling though that this is not so good from the racing perspective....

Strangely, tomorrow is a holiday in Alberta, and so I'll be heading to Tuscany to check on the house. I hope www.cyclingnews.com posts a report of the first day of La Ruta. Other than that, I have a quite weekend to myself. I'm now not heading north until the 22nd. I realise it's been over a year since I've been home without Jeff around! Crazy.
